The Nantucket Bench originated from a customer request, as do so many of our pieces. It evokes the nostalgic images of a sea-side New England town readying itself for approaching fall. Hence the name, Nantucket. The mortise and tenon joinery ensure the bench is both structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing.
It was only later, through a happy coincidence, that we discovered that Abiah Folger, the mother of founding father Benjamin Franklin', was born in Nantucket. Her birth site is marked by a plaque and is known to locals as "The Bench". From a customer's musings to a short history lesson, sometimes life around here just feels like one fortunate accident.
