The Susan design is based on 5-sided legs and 10 degree bevels. The top has a very subtle inward bevel, as well as the drawer handles. The legs are 5-sided with tapers as well. Along with a floating top, this is our most delicate looking collection.
The scale of the Susan Collection was specifically created to occupy small spaces effectively. The depth of the case is typically a few inches less than standard cabinets. We compensated for that fact by adding metal glides to get full extension on all the drawers. Adding to that, the handles are cut into the faces of the drawers to further minimize the physical presence of the cases while enhancing the uniqueness.
The Susan Collection began as a silverware cabinet. The cabinet design was largely worked out by the customer, Manfred and Michiko Wuttig. Mark Gatterdam completed the design. Curt Smay was tasked with the construction of the Wuttig piece, and saw a great potential. Curt took the time to develop a bed, nightstand, chest, and dresser, initially for his girlfriend, Susan. We have recently expanded the line from the bedroom set into a dining room set and are continuously creating new pieces depending on what spin our customers want to add to the Susan template.
