| Sometimes here at Hardwood Artisans, stars align. In fact it happens so often that it now seems an out-growth of the organic nature of our creative process. Not being tied to producing a spring, summer or winter catalog as some larger companies, we can create and release a new piece based on a customer suggestion or our own fleeting inspiration. The Nantucket bench was one such customer suggestion. Once it was built and we showed it around the office, we agreed that it looked as though it belonged in some sea-side New England town readying itself for the approaching fall. Hence, Nantucket. Only later through happy coincidence did we discover that Abiah Folger, founding father Benjamin Franklin's mother, was born on Nantucket. Her birth site is marked by a plaque and is known to locals as "The Bench". From a customer's musings to a short history lesson, sometimes life around here just feels like one fortunate accident.
