Tall back Mackintosh Sofas and Chairs
|
| | A unique twist on our first Mackintosh sofa, loveseat and chair design -
this Mackintosh style features a taller back. The tall back adds additional
comfort and height to the design. Its chair features a traditional three
position recliner. The chair was inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868-1928), a Scottish
designer and architect who was a leader in the early 20th century genre that
became known as "the Glasgow Style" and eventually as Art Nouveau. Arts and
Crafts cabinetmakers and later architects (such as Frank Lloyd Wright)
borrowed heavily from Mackintosh's work. With these Mackintosh pieces (and
our Highland dining room collection) we are acknowledging his influence. The
lines of these sofas and chairs, designed by Mark Gatterdam, one of our
owners, also contain hints of oriental and modern influences, making them
hard to limit to any one particular period. The choices of upholstery
material is pretty much limitless; we offer a selection of more than 350
fabrics and leathers, or you can supply your own material and we will have
your sofa or chair expertly done up according to your instructions. Chair requires 6 yards of fabric. Loveseat requires 11 yards of fabric. Sofa requires 15 yards of fabric.
