The recent resurgence in interest in Danish Modern furniture design captured our imagination. Like many modern styles, the mid century aesthetIc partly developed out of the Arts & Crafts movement, with Walter Gropius and other Bauhaus designers citing William Morris as a major influence. It seemed a natural direction to take our next living room collection. This collection represents a departure for Hardwood Artisans. Previous living room collections have had distinct Arts & Crafts or Mission-style roots. In addition, this collection is more technically challenging than previous collections, requiring the craftsman to establish reference points on full boards before sculpting the arms to their final form. The Linnaea Collection draws its name from the linnaea borealis flower, reflecting the clean, organic, simple lines of the furniture designs. |
