It is strange how even the simplest things turn out to be more complicated that you might first think. A case in point is a bed table (or nightstand).
Taken from a strictly functional point of view, a nightstand has a surprising number of jobs it must do well. It needs to be of a proper size so that it fits in the space around the bed where it will “live”.
It needs to be the proper height for your needs: Are you a reader? If so, what lamp will you be using? How high does the top need to be to get the light where you want it? How large does the top surface need to be to hold your clock, book, tissue box, lamp, and plate of cookies and milk? Do you need a drawer? If so, do you need more than one? Do you need a lower shelf? Should the lower space be enclosed? Should it have a door?
Then there are the aesthetic considerations: What should this nightstand look like? Ideally it should just fit in so perfectly that it looks like it was always there; it should complement the bed and the rest of the room.
The nightstand styles that we offer are ones that were designed to look best with our specific beds and dressers, but they will work very nicely with the bed you currently own.
At Hardwood Artisans, we have a pretty deep line-up of nightstand styles, and a choice of seven different woods to choose from. In addition, we make these specifically for you and your needs. If some change is needed, we will probably be able to accommodate. We will be glad to help you get just what you want.
